Tidbits of Information
Welcome to my Blog page. Here you will find my random thoughts, life instructions and just generally important information. At least to me anyways.
How NOT to Walk Like a Neanderthal
I need to preface this post a little. Ken Bob Saxton is the Guru of Barefoot running. He has been collecting, testing, and teaching how to run and walk properly for EONS. He is a Warrior of Love, and is part of the Coalition of Hope. Movement is crucial to survival. A rolling stone gathers no moss.
Breathe
Vertical torso, head up, relax your shoulders, no slouching
Relax
Bend the knees, feel the pressure coming off the heels
Breathe
Hips lead the way, shift your center of balance slightly forward, and let gravity pull you forward by your belly
Relax
Lift your feet early and quickly. Small steps are key. Try to imagine spinning the pedals of a bicycle
Breathe
If you feel your fore-foot pushing into the ground, then your ankles and calves aren’t relaxed enough
Relax
Move your feet under your center of balance, so your body doesn’t wobble side to side
Breathe
Allow your hips to rotate with your legs and shoulders to twist in the opposite direction. Let your backbone slide
Relax
Swing each leg around from the side, to land on an imaginary line that stretches out in front of you to a point on the horizon, think of a model walking down the runway
Breathe
Use your eyes to scan the surface in front of you, but keep your head up, relax your shoulders, stick that belly out and let gravity do the rest
Repeat

Off The Deep End
Some may say I have, what is called, 'jumped off the deep end'. To those people I say this, it is quiet down here, and luckily, I can hold my breath, for a very long time.

Freedumb
It angers me when groups preach 'individuality and freedom', but then SCREAM at others to conform to THEIR rules and ideals. It's very hypocritical.

Overcome
There will always be obstacles in our lives. You can choose to try to move them, go around them, or go through them. You must remember however, you cannot go around all things, you cannot move all things, and you cannot go through all things. You need to choose the path that is right for YOU. Will you try and move the Sun? Will you try and go around the Raindrops? Will you try and go through the Earth? Only you can decide what's best for you. Don't make things harder than they need to be. Find the easy path and take it, whenever you can. Life is short.

Headphones in Public
Everywhere you look, people are wearing headphones. Why? Well, that's an easy answer. Music makes us feel. It also shields us a little from social interactions. This is my view. I don't want music to block out the world. I want music to add to the beautiful soundtrack of the World around us. It's also a little dangerous to walk around with headphones on because you can't hear vehicles and such. I'm not saying headphones are bad. If you're in a crowded place and you want to listen to music, you need headphones. However, when I walk down the street for my daily mental health walks, I put music on my phone, crank up the volume, put it in my breast pocket with the speaker facing up, and away I go. Does it throw some people for a loop? Sure does, but if you think about it, your only passing by and the music from your phone pocket is not that loud to others. Try it next time when your walking. It does require a little bit of social fortitude, however. Its hard NOT to sing and dance along, especially when you have the 'right' music. You may just walk by someone with the right tune playing and completely change their day. Music does wonders.

Talking to Living Things
I would like to normalize talking to animals. Don't get me wrong, I know that all animal owners talk to their animals, this is more for the non-animal people. Here is an example. During my walks by the water, I see lots of different kinds of birds. I like to say HI and ask them how they are doing. Hear me out, I don't expect them to reply (although sometimes they do squawk or quack or coo). The problem is people think that there is something wrong with you. There is not. I am here to tell you. Talking to living things is perfectly normal behavior and should be encouraged.
